I grew up……….

On a farm in Oklahoma.  Although, the farming was mostly by my Grandpa my brothers and I did have 360 acres of his land to roam and run wild.  That was fun.  My dad wasn’t a big farmer but we did dabble in it with some pigs and a few cows.  It was enough to know that I didn’t want to be a farmer.  But, I respect farmers and the hard work, business skills and endurance that it requires.

My dream was………

To be a major league baseball player.  My entire life was built around baseball from the time I was around 8 until the dream ended at about 23.  I did have my moments.  I was scouted by the Texas Rangers out of high school.  They didn’t feel like I was ready to play minor league ball so they sent me to Cowley College in Arkansas City, KS where they had a connection with the coaches there.  I played there two years (junior college).  Nothing great happened there and I missed most of my sophomore year due to injuries.  From there I went to Northeastern Oklahoma State and played for two more years.  In my humble opinion I had an awesome senior season and should have been drafted.  For example, I hit 5 home runs in the Regional Tournament.  But, hey, it didn’t happen so I focused on academics and graduated with an accounting degree.

My dream now is……….

To build a large accounting firm in Chesapeake, VA.  To become a scratch golfer.  To raise my kids with values and morals.  To be a great husband and father.  And, of course, to raise my son, Ty, to become a major league baseball player!
